Finnish literature in focus at Frankfurt Book Fair October 8-12, 2014

This is an event that people involved in Finnish literature scene can experience only once during their careers: Finland is the Guest of Honor at the world’s largest books show in Frankfurt. Finnish literature export organization has prepared the event for years, ensuring authors and books get maximum exposure in Germany and across the world via media. Here are the expected highlights of Frankfurt 2014.

The annual Guest of Honor country can make use of a whole exhibition hall (pavilion) whose interior is completely redesigned to reflect the country’s and its literature’s characteristics. Most book show visitors will take a look at the pavilion and may also sit down and listen to the authors speaking in the pavilion.
The Lighter Side of Finland by Russell Snyder
Naturally, books are available for viewing in the pavilion. One of the books displayed is Russell Snyder’s The Lighter Side of Finland. Authors who are speaking at the pavilion are primarily crime fiction and literature fiction writers, for instance, Katja Kettu, Tuomas Kyrö, Mauri Kunnas, Matti Rönkä, Johanna Sinisalo, Taavi Soininvaara and Kjell Westö. The names of all 60 authors who speak at the pavilion are listed here.

During the book fair, Finnish authors present in Frankfurt’s libraries, bookstores, churches and at many exhibition stands. There are hundreds of events where authors can be met. One of the exhibition stands is occupied by the City of Helsinki (at Agora area), where The Lighter Side of Finland by Russell Snyder is displayed as well.
